How great was 2011?

Well 2012 is upon us and it's time to reflect back on 2011 and remember the good times.

In January I finally bit the bullet and bought a LCD TV for my room.  I have thoroughly enjoyed it all year!  I purchased a new Axis Pan Tilt Zoom webcam to display more views down in Shell Beach.  It worked great all year and led to a slight redesign of www.shellbeachwebcam.com.

February was pretty low key with a few local fishing trips.  I went bass fishing at Anderson and Lexington.  We caught some fish at Anderson and I was lucky to get my first bass at Lexington on a jig.  I got 3 trout at Shadow Cliffs from shore with Jon.

March we got into some good cutthroat fishing at Pyramid Lake outside of Reno.  I went bass fishing again at Anderson and also bought a new bass fishing rod, a Shimano Clarus, from Coyote bait and tackle.  The rod was a spin rod to be able to maybe drop shot a little bit better.  Much faster action than I'm used to.

April I hiked Sunol for the first time.  There were some cool little waterfalls in the creek in Little Yosemite.  Adele saw a bobcat.  It would be fun to go back.  I found a huge rattlesnake while hiking in Las Trampas and took a quick video of it while luckily not getting bit! It has become a huge hit on youtube, posted here.   I went back to Pyramid because I couldn't get enough.  Caught some decent fish.  I stopped along Tahoe and Auburn on the way home to do some exploring.  Saw the biggest bridge over the north fork American.  I went to the ranch for Easter and it was beautiful.  We hiked up Angel Falls near Bass Lake.  To finish off the month, I took out the jetski at Anderson Lake.

May started out bass fishing at Anderson.  I also bought a Specialized P1 dirt jumper bike to ride at the Pleasanton bike park.  For Memorial Day weekend Adele and I went with Matt and Jayme to the Ranch and had a great time.  Adele and I also explored down to Redinger Lake and then over to Yosemite to see the big waterfalls!

Not too sure what I did in June, perhaps rode the jetski at Anderson.  I got some new hiking boots at REI that have been working out great.

July was great, with a trip to Mammoth for 4th of July weekend starting it out.  It was the first time ever we took the dirt bikes (motorcycles) and rode around.  We rode near Smokey Bear Flat as well as up Laurel Canyon.  It was fun!  We also got a hike into Little Lakes Valley.  I took the jetski to Anderson some more.  Adele and I drove to the top of Mount Diablo which provided great views! I went on a day drive to Lake Hogan and the Mokelumne River to check it out.  I caught a trout at Angels camp on the way.  I purchased a new cell phone, the Droid Incredible 2 and have been enjoying it since!  I took the trip over to Kingsburg and rode the Kings River with the jetski crew.  Check out that video here.  I followed that up with a trip down to Shell Beach.  Dang, what a great month!

August kicked off strong with a boating and camping trip to Bullards Bar.  First time I've ever been there and it has been on my bucket list for awhile!  We had a great time and it made me realized I needed a bigger tent.  The water was awesome, and I plan to go back!  I immediately went to Mammoth the next weekend for a quick trip.  We rode the Ranger all through Pizona and saw some awesome wild mustangs!  The next day I fished the Upper Owens with Uncle Tom and finally got some nymph fish on this river.  Felt good.  I got the impeller changed on the Glastron since I ignorantly blew that out and we found out the hard way while trying to boat at Berryessa with Matt and Jayme.

September also started strong with a killer houseboating trip to Lake Berryessa with Adele's family.  We all had a great time and it felt good to be on a houseboat again.  We flew on a plane on September 11 to Las Vegas to go to Lake Mohave.  We had a great time and enjoyed some nice water for wakeboarding.  We had one pretty bad rainstorm while we were there too.

October was still nice and Phillip Priolo and I took the boat and superjet to Anderson on a nice day. I went on the annual boys fishing trip to Mammoth and we caught some NICE fish! We celebrated Adele's birthday down in Los Angeles by staying at the Ritz Carlton ( a first ) and then seeing the talkshow Chelsea Lately.

November was slow, but I got a new mountain bike used off Craigslist.  Feels good to have a bike that I can actually abuse a little without it falling apart.   I went to Saratoga Gap two weekends in a row to test it out and had a good time.  Adele and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary at Esin.  I celebrated Thanksgiving at the ranch and had a great time.  I setup my newly constructed wine barrel fountain which fit perfectly in the yard.  Dad bought a new motorcycle that is a dual sport which should be fun for the summers to come in Mammoth.  I celebrated Amy's birthday at Chukchansi Casino near the Ranch.

December Adele started her new job at Milestone Technologies in Fremont which makes life easier for me since she is down in the area so much more.  I think it's a refreshing change for her as well.  We prepped for Christmas and then enjoyed it down in SLO.  While on the break we hiked many days including Montana De Oro which I haven't done in a long time.  I also got Dad to ride mountain bikes with me on East Cuesta Ridge which provided great views over SLO.  You can also drop down into Upper Lopez Canyon from there and that would be a fun trip to try sometime.  We rang in the new year at Blackhawk Museum with some friends and had a great time dancing the night away on the dance floor.

I am truly blessed to have the family and friends I have and to be healthy and safe!
2012 will bring even more memories and more great outdoor adventures!
